You are HOW old? Will Smith's daughter Willow looks well beyond her 11 years on the red carpet in yellow gown
By Alanah Eriksen
She's grown up with two parents in the spotlight.
So it was a given that she would become accustomed to a life in showbusiness herself from a young age.
But Willow Smith will have shocked even the most seasoned celebrities as she posed on the red carpet at the BET Honors event in Washington.
Growing up: Will Smith's singer daughter Willow looked well beyond her 11 years in this yellow dress at the BET Honors event in Washington
And instead of a pretty swing dress that would have suited a little girl, Willow opted for a floor-length yellow gown, tied at the waist.
Her time to shine: The 11-year-old's father, Hollywood heavyweight Will Smith, was seen two paces behind as he let his daughter have the spotlight
Holding her own: Willow helped present an award, alongside the First Lady Michelle Obama, Cicely Tyson, Queen Latifah and Jill ScottShe added several colourful bracelets and held a tiny black clutch to complete the look.
As she left the event, she wrapped up warm in a long navy coat.
Her father, Hollywood heavyweight Will Smith was apparently there too, but snuck behind the backdrop to let his daughter have the spotlight.
Doing well: Willow is forging a career for herself as a singer, with a number one single last year, Whip My Hair
Belting out the tunes: Willow performs alongside Cicely Tyson on stage
Willow is more known for her eccentric street style, with colourful laces, funny wigs and lots of denim.
She is often compared to the much-older singer, Nicki Minaj or a younger Rihanna.
The event, held by BET (Black Entertainment Television), saw Mariah Carey honoured alongside Stevie Wonder, Spike Lee and Maya Angelou.
Well done: Willow looks on as Michelle honours poet Maya Angelou after receiving the Literary Arts Award during the BET Honors

Maria tweeted earlier this week: 'Mega excited for BET honors. Totally humbled, can't believe I'm even included with this group of people. more exciting stuff to come.. LYM!'
Also at the bash by former Destiny’s Child band members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
What a change: The tweenager usually dons outfits more suited to her age, as seen on the red carpet at the Karate Kid premiere last year
