She's known for her wacky style on stage and off.

But Jessie J appeared to have stepped it up a notch last night as she joined the very best singers at the VH1 Divas Celebrates Soul concert.

The London-born crooner held her own at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York, donning three very daring outfits.

The first was a sheer mullet-style, long-sleeved dress which exposed her black underwear.

Complete with shoulder pads, it was embellished with gold detailing with a black panel at the bottom.

Her shiny black hair was styled in her usual trademark bob.

On stage, Jessie donned an interesting black number by British designer Mark Fast.

It sported orange, pink and purple tassels around the stomach and off her arms.

face as she posed on the red carpet

She paired it with flesh-coloured stockings featuring a black band around each thigh and black combat boots.

The 23-year-old delighted the screaming audience with her numerous dance moves, including sliding along the shiny floor.

She then changed into a extremely tight blue bodysuit for a performance with Oscar-winner Jennifer Hudson.

But she kept on the black combat boots and added a chunky gold necklace to the ensemble.

Her outfit made a striking contrast to Jennifer's hot pink minidress.

She showed off her newly slimmed down figure and added a pair of towering peep-toe heels to emphasize her slim pins.

The pair posed together backstage and an excited Jessie later took to her Twitter to post about the event.

'Did I really just sing with @IAMJHUD WOW #dreamscometrue,' she said.

The Brit joined an array of singers at the event which paid tribute to soul singers.

They were accompanied by soul performers The Roots Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings, Boyz II Men, Estelle, Marsha Ambrosius, Travie McCoy, Mavis Staples, Wanda Jackson, Martha Reeves and Ledisi.

Presenters were Dolly Parton, Queen Latifah, Terrence Howard, Nas, Common, Sherri Shepherd, La La Anthony, and Archie Panjabi.

The night included a special tribute to Amy Winehouse with Florence Welch performing Back to Black and Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings and rockabilly legend Wanda Jackson performing You Know I'm No Good.

Nas, who collaborated with Winehouse on the first single of her current posthumous album, introduced the tribute medley.

The concert benefited the VH1 Save The Music Foundation, a non-profit organisation dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of music education in a child's life.

Jessie clearly had a favourite performance of the night, tweeting: 'The Roots are INCREDIBLE!!!! They just played Domino and my heart literally skipped a beat. This is a moment...'
